Visitor , Cap says that I have to get you Groms up to speed on the Pen Tool. Will you become a Pen Tool Jedi Master?
Click CONTINUE to find out.
The Pen Tool is the most powerful and versatile illustration tool in a designer’s toolbox! There are two main uses for the Pen Tool: Drawing Shapes and Cutting Things Out. You can draw shapes with the Pen Tool in both Illustrator and Photoshop, but you’re only likely to use it to cut images out in Photoshop. There’s no end to the type of shapes you can draw with the Pen Tool. You can draw both straight lines between two points or add a bend using bezier curves. This mixture, of straight lines and curves of any angle, allow you to draw just about any shape imaginable.
However, the Pen Tool can be challenging to learn. Every year a handful of Groms almost wash out of the CIA trying to learn it. That is because they choose to rush the Pen Tool exercises wanting to “be done” instead of wanting to master Illustrator’s most powerful tool. Take your time. Master the Pen Tool. Don’t let the Pen Tool master you.
Have you checked the Self Portraits on Behance? Other lil Groms, just like you, from previous cohorts created those after going through the same training you are about to encounter.
Don’t rush through the training below. You want to to UNDERSTAND the Pen Tool, not just finish the tutorials.
Are you ready for the challenge?
Did you complete each challenge twice using two different colors? Are you sure that you are comfortable using the Pen Tool?
If so … move onto STAGE 3 of the mission test your skills in The Maze.
I hear you were bragging about how easy the first challenges were. So . . . you think you have become a Pen Tool Jedi?
We shall see about that. Let’s see how a little Grom like you does in The Maze. **Remember Grom—ONE line from beginning to end. We don’t want any breaks in the line in the CIA.
Show the BOSS your finished Maze before moving on.
